Swimming

Room 2 students are lucky to have been swimming most days this term. At the moment, they are very lucky to have 2 wonderful swimming coaches in the water with them for 10 lessons. The development of water confidence and basic water safety skills has been wonderful to see.

Race Unity Day

A week ago May Road School celebrated Race Unity Day. The day began by the whole school meeting under the covered area to acknowledge our own ancestries and how lucky we all are to be living here in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
The day ended with the whole school meeting again to sing songs and reflect on the importance of tolerance and acceptance.

EOTC week

Last week was our EOTC week - our Education Outside the Classroom week. There were plenty of opportunities for students to play all sorts of games with each other and to develop some basic physical education skills such as throwing and catching a small ball. The week began with the official opening of our bike track. This was a significant event. Obtaining funding for the construction of the bike track, organising the bikes and helmets and then the opening day, was a massive job. Huge thanks to our own Ms Maxwell for organising all of this!
